Engagement
The Roka Ceremony, one of the most significant rituals, marks the beginning of a couple’s union and intent to marry.

A few months after the Roka, both families got together on Long Island for an Engagement Party hosted by Ruchi’s family at their home.
Vivek Ritual Events
On Vivek’s side, there were some smaller pre-Wedding traditions that were followed, including the Ghee Pilai, Peethi, Bateesi, and Maayra. Click thru to see photos from each one.
Ruchi Ritual Events
In addition to all the larger Wedding events, Ruchi’s family hosted a number of smaller ritual events that truly made the whole week feel festive and colorful - including the at home Mehndi, Bonfire, Haldi, Bhaat, and Chacha Bali.
Mama-Nani Welcome Dinner
The Wedding festivities kicked off with a grand Welcome Dinner hosted by Ruchi’s maternal side (her Nani, Mama, and Mami).
Lagan
Two days before the Wedding, Ruchi’s family gathered for the writing of the Lagan, which is a formal letter drafted by a Pandit Ji announcing the marriage.
Mehndi
As the first larger Wedding event, the Mehndi Function kicked things off with a bang!
Sangeet
Sangeet - All of our guests put on their freshest outfits and dancing shoes for the Sangeet (or, Musical Night).
Baraat & Wedding
Both Vivek and Ruchi entered the wedding venue in different fashions. Vivek: on an elephant thru the Baraat procession, and Ruchi: who was walked in by her Bhaiyas, Bhabhis, sisters, and best friends. Once they met each other, the wedding ceremony was underway.
Wedding Reception
Following the Wedding ceremony, we were welcomed into a beautiful reception with sparklers and cheers from our dear family and friends.
Vidaai
The next morning was an emotional one for Ruchi and her family. It was time for the Vidaai ceremony, where the bride’s family blesses the couple and bids farewell as she leaves with her husband.
Hyderabad Reception
After the wedding ceremonies came to a close, we flew to Hyderabad to visit Vivek’s extended family.
Dallas Reception
Once we returned back to the US, we were excited to celebrate with all of our family and friends who were not able to make the trip to India. In February, we all flew to Dallas and Vivek’s family hosted a grand reception.
